Developped by Brodersen Controls, the new RTU870 Utility Outstation is supplied with an IEC60870-5-101 protocol. Today IEC60870 is used widely in almost all areas of utility applications.

The unit is available in various I/O combinations. The standard version incorporates 24 I/Os with 16 digital inputs (the first 2 can be dedicated as counters),4 relay outputs, 4 analogue inputs and a local bus connection for I/O expansion.

Connectivity to the compact utility outstation is provided eiher via the incorporated V23 lease-line modem or via a RS232 connection.

Serial interfaces RS232 and TTY/CL meter ports supporting both the IEC1107 and IEC60870-5-102 meter protocols provide connectivity to electricity meters etc.

This RTU can be programmed by the user using Brodersen's unique B-CONW software and meets many of the requirements for remote meter monitoring.

The SMS system is fully integrated in the RTUs.

Brodersen telemetric equipment allows transmission of process signals from remote/isolated sites to a central control room via radio, telephone (PSTN) or by mobile telephone network (GSM). The remote site could be just a few kilometers away, in another country or in another continent.
